Cape Fear Scout Reservation

The Cape Fear Scout Reservation is the official camp of the Cape Fear Council. It has been providing Scouts, church groups, 4-H clubs, companies and other organizations with a great outdoor experience for over twenty years. Campers can enjoy exciting and challenging activities, a wonderful environment full of unique wildlife and vegetation, and some of the country's most modern camping facilities.

The Cape Fear Council is comprised of eight counties in Southeastern North Carolina and the reservation is located near the geographical center of its territory in White Oak, North Carolina. Cape Fear Scout Reservation harbors over 1,500 acres of low country forest, swamp, and 'Carolina Bays'.It is home of hundreds of different species of flora and fauna including the famous Venus's flytrap. The Cape Fear Scout Reservation is made up of two wonderful camps, Camp Bowers and Camp McNeill.

Camp Bowers

Camp Bowers is the Cape Fear Council's main Boy Scout Camp. Camp Bowers plays host every summer for our Boy Scout Resident Camp. With over nine campsites with fully equipped bath houses, a 200 seat dinning hall, air-conditioned office and leaders' center, an air-conditioned staff lodge and many other facilities, Camp Bowers can provide you with an outdoor experience with some of the luxuries of home.

Camp Bowers also contains breathtaking Lake Katherine with her beautiful cypress trees and sandy beaches. Lake Katherine is the perfect place for swimming, boating, or just relaxing with a fishing pole in your hand.

If you are up for a challenge then the Camp Bowers, Project COPE (challenging, outdoor, personal, experience) is the place to be. Project "COPE" is a challenging and thrilling high course and low course designed to build self-confidence, trust, and teamwork in any group that participates in it.

The COPE course is only one challenge at Camp Bowers. How about the fully equipped Rifle, Shotgun, and Archery Range? Maybe you would like to play a game of softball, basketball, or volleyball in our spacious activity field.

It doesn't matter who you are, there's fun awaiting you at Camp Bowers.

Camp McNeill

Camp McNeill is the Cape Fear Council's Cub Scout World. Camp McNeill offers many camping opportunities for cub packs and other groups. Cub Scout Resident camp is not the only opportunity for cub camping. There is Leader Training, Cub Camporees, Water Weekends, Parent-Son Weekends, and Family Camping.

Camp McNeill's many different program areas offer a variety of opportunities to let your imagination go wild.  You can either camp in the traditional tent or plan to stay in one of our three cabins. The various facilities available at Camp McNeill accommodate even the first time camper. With indoor lodging and both male and female bathrooms and showers, everyone will feel right at home at Camp McNeill. Each cabin can sleep 10 youth and 4 adults. Separate rooms, bathrooms, and showers are available for youth and adults.

If your group is a little larger than most, then choose the Western Fort. This is not only a program area, but a place to rest your head as well. Bunk beds can sleep up to 40 youth and 16 adults while being protected by rustic walls of the Fort. Adults and youth have separate rooms, bathrooms, and showers.

After a good night sleep you can test your skills at the BB Gun and Archery Ranges, Pirate Ship, Fitness Trail, Tom Sawyer Rafts, Space Station, Gold Mine Shaft or make your own games up in the Athletic Field. Once you have used up your energy go for a bite to eat at our Dining Hall. While our Dining Hall at Camp McNeill does not have cooking facilities (meals for resident camp are prepared at Camp Bowers kitchen), it can accommodate over 300 people. Once the day has ended and before you go home, have your ceremony, campfire, or skits in our wonderful Akela Arena.

So pull out your hiking boots and your imagination, because Camp McNeill has something to offer everyone young and old.
