Coastal District Banquet
Thank you very much to Bert Billings for another outstanding job in organizing our Coastal District Leaders Banquet. Thanks also to Mike Hardison and John Barham for organizing, delivering, and serving our dinner. We had an excellent time at the banquet with a an excellent guest speaker, Walter “Chunky” Huse, and great fellowship. Congratulations to all our award winners. A special congrats to Tammy Brown and Paul Bowerman as our 2013 Cape Fear Award winners! See you all at the 2014 banquet on February 11, 2014!!!

Scout Show
Thank you to Bert Billings and all other leaders for their leadership in organizing the 2013 Scout Show. It was a bit chilly but the scouts had a great time and the vendors that participated did a tremendous job.
District Pinewood Derby
Coastal District Pinewood Derby
A big thank you to Steve Bilzi, Scoutmaster of Troop 239, and Duane Kelley, Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 239, for an awesome Pinewood Derby this past weekend. Thanks also to Duane’s wife, Tanya Kelley, their son, Brandon, and Alec Bilzi for a full day of service at the mall event as well. Also, thank you to Mr. Steve Durant, who not only donated the Trophies and free meal coupons to all participants (Trolly Stop), but also spent the day running the track.
Thanks to Pack 274 and Randy Mallo for the use of their track and joining the Friday night setup.
It was a great event and fun was had by all in participation. The results from the 2013 Coastal District Pinewood Derby are below!

Community Opportunity
American Legion Post 10 - David Hartley and the American Legion Post 10 would like to make their facility available to local scouting units. The American Legion is interested in bringing a stronger presence of the Boy Scouts to Post 10. They have some wonderful amenities to offer to the various troops located in our area along with, a wealth of experience from their organization. Their banquet hall can hold up to 350 persons and they have an abundance of parking. They’ve expressed interest in making their facilities available for unit fundraisers (carwashes, spaghetti dinner, etc.) and also boy scout recruitment activities.

Trainings
Roundtable -
District Roundtable meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month @ 7:00pm in Leland, NC at Magnolia Greens Golf Course in the Club Room (located to the right of the clubhouse at 1800 Linkwood Drive, Leland, NC 28451).
Roundtables begin at 7:00pm with a gathering of all, to share council and district news. We then split into our Cub Scout Roundtable and Boy Scout Roundtable. Please be sure to have a representative from your unit to attend this monthly meeting. It is very informative and vital to units staying up to date and current on Scouting.

District Committee Meeting -
District Committee meetings will be held at the Brunswick Forest Welcome Center in Leland on the 4th Thursday night of each month at 6:30pm. All District Committee members please be sure to attend these very important meetings.
