Hello Masonboro,

I hope every one of you had a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year.  This year of 2010 is truly going to be a unique year for Scouting.  As most of you know we are celebrating the 100 year anniversary of Scouting here in America.  We have already kicked it off at the Cape Fear Council with our Day of Service on January 9, 2010.  The final tallies are not in, but from what I heard Scout units were very successful at getting out in their communities and giving back.  For more information on what the Council will be doing to celebrate the 100 year anniversary during 2010 please see the link on the Council website.

Masonboro truly  has a great year planned.  Coming up during the next few months we will have the 100 year anniversary Scout Show at Hugh Mcrae park.  This year is sure to be the best and biggest in Masonboro District history.  We will also have our annual  District Pinewood Derby Race at Independence Mall which is always a great day.  Finally, we will celebrate our volunteers at our annual District banquet hosted for the third year in a road at Pine valley Church of God.  There is much more in store in 2010 so make sure to look at the District Calendar to keep up to date on upcoming events.

Yours in Scouting,
Andrew Zeldin
