DE Notes
1/11/07-Hope everyone had a great holiday season and
a happy new year. We have a busy calendar coming up in
the next few months. I wanted to thank all the units,
volunteers, and parents for keeping things rolling while
I was at PDL receiving some much needed training. There
are some events coming up in the next few months that
you should know about and put in your calendar so make
sure to scroll down the page
Something else I wanted to mention is the Cape Fear Council
set our own record for the number of eagle scouts in a
year. There were 110 Scouts who achieved this award in
2007. Masonboro Boy Scouts help lead the way so the boys
as well as their leaders, parents, and district should
be proud.
Dates and Times for Meetings
The District Committee will meet every
first Thursday each month. Meetings will take place
at the Morgan Stanley building at 1111 Military Cutoff
Rd. across from Mayfair at 5:30pm.
Round Table-Round Table location has
now changed. It will be hosted by the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints 514 South College Rd (to the
left of Bojangles…park in the back part of the building
and you will see the entrance). Thank you to pack226/troop
26-Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church for hosting
the round table during the fall season. I’m sure
all of the Masonboro District is looking forward to working
with p/t 202/203 at their wonderful facilities.
Round Table-Every second Tuesday of
each month at 7:00pm. All unit leaders should encourage
your parents to attend. In addition, I am still looking
for round table commissioners and committee members. If
you are interested please contact me via phone or e-mail
at the Scout office.
Notices, Dates, and Times for Events:
New Leader Training
New Leader training has been cancelled
this weekend do to the lack of interest. We will have
training later in the spring..
BSA Swim Night
Wilmington YMCA and the Cape Fear Council are co-sponsoring
BSA Swim Night and Summer Camp Swim Tests. This will be
held on March 15, 2008 @ 7:00pm. Come and get your Troop
ready for camp as well as have fun. There will be camping
in the YMCA gym for those who want to stay overnight or
have to travel a long distance from another district.
There will be troop aquatic games and competitions in
knot tying, first aid, basketball, and volleyball. BSA
Lifeguards will be on hand to perform BSA swim tests and
complete pre-camp swim forms.
District Pinewood Derby and Scout Show
The District Pinewood Derby will be held at Independence
Mall on March, 1. It is my hope that we can have the Scout
Show there as well. Me and Duane Kelly are going to speak
to the powers that be at the mall next week to discuss
the arrangements. At round table we came up with a great
theme for the Scout Show-“Scouts in Action”.
With the Pinewood Derby and the Scout show at the mall
we could really celebrate Scouting in our area and show
what a rich tradition it has in our community. The district
needs some volunteers for the Scout Show so please let
me know if you want to get involved. In Addition, the
race is going to be awesome so make sure your unit comes
out to support their representatives in this year’s
race.
District Banquet
The District Banquet will be held at the Pine Valley
Church of God on Tuesday March 11.
The banquet will take the place of round table this month.
More details will follow in the next week, but please
mark your calendars for this special event that celebrates
and honors all of our wonderful volunteers.

Cub Scout Recruitment
Leaders please don’t forget to always collect
any applications and fees from new boys who enter your
pack and to turn them in to me or take them to the council
office to Beth Whitley. If all of your boys are not registered
they are not all insured! Remember that recruitment is
a year-round effort. Always remind your youth to invite
their friends and neighbors to join scouts.
Scout Service Center
Please keep in mind that the hours of the scout shop are
