This past December the Cape Fear Council purchased additional premier commercial inflatable elements and support pieces to complete the Rippy World circuit at Camp Bowers. Working with Commercial Recreation Specialists and Jungle Rapids Family Fun Park we determined the best possible combination of elements to present a challenging course for our Scouts. Meet Gabriel Tidestav who comes to us from Sweden this summer. He is a Challenger Scout in Scouterna, the Guides and Scouts Association of Sweden, and is looking forward to his first experience in America.
Gabriel has been a member of Scouting since he was 7 years old beginning as a Beaver Scout and working his way through the ranks where he is currently a Challenger Scout and assistant leader for the Beaver Scouts in his hometown. Council Celebrates 100 Years with Jamboree

The Cape Fear Council’s 100th Anniversary Jamboree is now history. Hundreds of Scouts from across the Cape Fear Council gathered at Camp Bowers the weekend of March 31 – April 2, 2017 to celebrate a milestone of 100 years of service to the youth of Southeastern North Carolina.
The original date and location in the fall of 2016 had to be rescheduled because of Hurricane Matthew’s heavy rains and wind. Pre-Camp Swim Tests Announced

The Cape Fear Council has partnered with the Wilmington Family YMCA to offer two Pre-Camp Swim test days for all Troops and Scouts. Scouts will take a standard BSA swimmers test administered by Camp Bowers BSA lifeguards following which their Scoutmasters will be given their filled out buddy tags. We can also provide copies of our lifeguards certifications if needed for Troops attending summer camp out of Council.
As we get closer to the event we will provide an opportunity for individual scouts to register if their Troop is not participating.

New Action Tower XXL Coming to Camp Bowers

Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous Scouting supporter the Cape Fear Council has ordered the Wibit Sports Action Tower XXL to be installed in Lake Katharine at Camp Bowers for Summer 2017. A challenging obstacle block in itself, the Action Tower will test your endurance through climbing, jumping, crawling, hanging and sliding activities. Promotes physical training, building teamwork, and even evaluates problem solving skills.

Major Camp Bowers Updates

Is anybody not ready? Camp starts in 19 days and boy have we been busy preparing for your arrival. Here is an update of what we have been working on:
This past May our Camp Staff completed the last of 3 training weekends. This effort, led by Larry Greer (past Woodbadge course director) caps off 30 hours of customer service, health & safety, and teaching strategy training. Thank you to all of the instructors that came out to help.
