CFC Scouter Recognized with National Honor

Silver-Antelope-MedalCape Fear Scouter to Receive Prestigious Silver Antelope Award

It is with exceeding pleasure and pride that we announce that our very own William B. Squire has been selected to receive the Silver Antelope Award by the Southern Region of the Boy Scouts of America. Bill has served as Vice President of Membership for the Southern Region and previously as Vice President of Membership for Area 7. Prior to that Bill has held every Scouting position from Den Leader to Council President.

The Silver Antelope Award, created in 1942, is granted for outstanding service to youth within the territory of a BSA region. The Silver Antelope Award is presented upon action of the Regional Executive Board of one of the BSA’s four Regions for service to youth within the Region or for outstanding longtime service to youth by a registered Scouter residing within that Region. A recipient must be a registered adult member of the Boy Scouts of America. The awards are presented in connection with regional meetings or at other public functions within the region. The National Court of Honor bestows Silver Antelope Awards on the basis of the number of registered volunteers in a region.

Bill is only the sixth Cape Fear Council Scouter to be awarded this prestigious honor:

Dr. William T. Rainey               1943               Fayetteville, NC

Please join us in congratulating Bill and his family on this well-deserved honor.
