Camp Bowers Summer Camp Week 2

New Program Highlights:

Leaders guide coverBig changes are in store at Camp Bowers for 2016.  The first big change is the opening of the BB&T Training Center for all of our Eagle Trail and Bowers Scholars Merit Badge classes.  The BB&T Training Center is a state of the art air-conditioned facility with a Scoutmaster’s Lounge, Free WIFI access, Cape Fear Historical Association Museum, and 3 large classrooms equipped with projectors and screens for classes and training.

In addition to this change we have many more coming down the road.  Stay tuned for some big announcements coming soon.  Below you can find our 2016 program guide as well as a powerpoint presentation.

C.O.P.E. + Shallotte River Swamp Park

SWAMP_002113_01_r1_logo1For Scouts 13 and older.  Participate in half days of C.O.P.E. Monday-Friday and enjoy a private Canopy Tour at one of USA Today’s top 10 ziplines in the Nation: ZipQuest.  This half day program enables older scouts to earn the merit badges they need for Eagle, while at the same time offering them a personal growth and leadership program unlike any other.  Additional materials cost of $60 is required to attend this program.

 Cape Fear Pioneers

For Scouts 14 and older.  This will be a week of living experiences like no
other. Spend the week along the banks of the Cape Fear River with the smell of wood smoke hanging in the air, and a challenging adventure around every turn. Scouts and Venturers who spend the week along the Cape

Fear River will live like the frontiersmen of the mid 1800’s. With coyote’s howling, fires a roaring, and dutch ovens full of cobbler, everyone will experience the true flavor of backwoods living.  Look forward to knife and tomahawk throwing, metal working, knife making, pioneering, and as a grand finale, making and sailing a raft down the Cape Fear River, just like ol’ Huck Finn.  During the course of the week participants will earn part or all of the following merit badges: Cooking, Camping, Rifle Shooting, Metal Work, Wilderness Survival, Geology, Leatherwork, and Woodwork. Venturers will also complete several requirements over the course of the week.  Additional materials fee of $50 is required to attend this program.

  Mountain Biking at Brown’s Creekbrowns creek

Take a field trip to the newest mountain biking trail in Bladen County, Browns Creek Nature Park and Bike Trail. This new trail runs an estimated five to six miles over hilly terrain, in an open field and through hardwood forest.  Must be 12 years and older, bikes are provided on a very limited first come, first served basis.  Please bring your own bike helmet.

Refund Policy  Fees are generally not refundable; however they are transferable to other Scouts in the same unit.  Full refunds will only be considered if requested in writing using the Activity Transfer/Refund Request Form a minimum of two weeks prior to the start of Council organized activity (cub camp, merit badge days, jamboree, Philmont, etc.) and are subject to approval by the Council Camping Committee.

 Partial refunds may be given for later requests due to emergencies, medical situations or mandatory summer school.  Requests for partial refunds must be received in writing by the Program Director no later than 10 days after the conclusion of activity and will be reviewed by the Council Camping Committee.  Notify the Program Director immediately if a Scout may not attend activity due to illness, injury or a personal issue.

All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing and mailed to the Council Service Center attention Program Director or emailed to martin.clemmer@scouting.org. Attention: Activity Transfer/Refund Request.  Please include how the check should be made out, who it is to be mailed to, and all pertinent information in relation to the reason for the refund.
