Post Hurricane Clean Up
Cape Fear Scout Reservation In Need of Clean-Up Help on Saturday October 6th & 13th
The lake has receded and has stopped running over the road which is currently drying out. While the impacts are serious, they could have been much worse. The road beyond the red bridge up to the Camp McNeill entrance has been washed out, similar to Hurricane Matthew. Our Ranger, Jacob Jay, has been working tirelessly to open access to 4 wheel-drive vehicles. Fortunately only minor damage was sustained by a few structures, but otherwise all facilities at camp are operational.
We are asking for help in cleaning up Camp McNeill on Saturday October 6th and Saturday October 13th to help us prepare for the start of Fall Family Camp. There are many fallen branches and trees that will need to be cleaned up as well as buildings that will need some attention to make them family ready.
Clean-Up Needs List: Chainsaws and operators, fallen brush clearing and chipping, Yard work tools – pruners, loppers, rakes, weed eaters, Grass mowing help – lawnmowers and operators, Pressure washers, General household cleaning supplies and helpers, Work Gloves, Trailers for moving debris, Some sheet rock will need to be replaced in ceilings of some buildings, Tarps, Log Splitters, Ladders, Scaffolding, etc.
If you or your unit is able to attend, please fill out the form below. Camping is allowed and the Klahican Lodge Cook Crew will be preparing lunch.
