From the Desk of Beth Whitley, Cape Fear Council Registrar:

As many of you have heard my last day will be June 30, 2016. There are so many people I would like to personally say a special “Thank You” for all your help and support all these years but my list would be too long. Please know that I love and appreciate you all.

I started the Scouting journey in October 2000 with my son Shawn when the Cape Fear Council had a Jamboree for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts on the grounds of Lake Waccamaw. Little did I know where this journey would take me.

I began working for the Council February 2005. I have met so many amazing adult Leaders and young men who will undoubtedly continue with the Cape Fear Council for the next 100 years.

I have volunteered many hours in the North East Cape Fear District and Coastal Districts and spent too many nights to count at McNeill Cub World and Camp Bowers watching the young boys become young men. I have enjoyed every minute of working with many of you (including the many nights only getting an hour or two of sleep while preparing for the next day’s activities). I will always cherish the memories of being a Staffer on Woodbadge and watching the fires of scouting ignite in our adult volunteers.

Many of you got to know Shawn and my husband Doug on Staff at Camp Bowers. Shawn became an Eagle in Troop 19 (the oldest Troop in Southeastern NC) on April 1, 2010 and was honored with being Vice-Chief of Indian Affairs with the Klahican Order of the Arrow Lodge mid to late 2010-October 2013.

I will miss all of you and wish you the best as you continue on to help these boys become Eagles.

Yours In Scouting,

Beth
