Thomas E Avent Scholarship Announced

The Cape Fear Council – Boy Scouts of America is announcing a financial aid award from the Thomas E. Avent College Scholarship Fund for 2022 of up to $5,000, which will be awarded to one or more deserving high school senior(s). This Scholarship Fund was established by the estate of Judith C. Avent of Lumberton in memory of her late husband Thomas E. Avent. This financial aid award may be used for payment of tuition to any accredited college, university or two-year community college.

The scholarship will be offered in the eight counties of southeastern North Carolina served by the Cape Fear Council. Those counties are Robeson, Scotland, Hoke, Columbus, Bladen, Pender, Brunswick and New Hanover. All applicants must be a registered Scout and demonstrate financial need. Eligibility requirements are contained in the attached scholarship application. Please pass this information along to a deserving high school senior and encourage them to apply. Application deadline is June 10, 2022.

The Cape Fear Council is a youth-development organization with a strong sense of community, service, leadership and achievement. This scholarship is just one of the ways the Cape Fear Council expresses its commitment to the young people and their families in the southeastern North Carolina area.

2022 Lonnie Poole Eagle Scout Scholarship

We are thrilled to announce an extraordinary partnership with the Lonnie and Carol Poole Family Foundation to offer a college scholarship of up to $10,000 a year renewable for four years for graduating Eagle Scouts who have earned a Scouting religious emblem over the course of their tenure in Scouting.

Enclosed you will find a copy of the application with specific instructions on how to apply for this special opportunity.  Please note that all completed applications must be received at the Cape Fear Council service center no later than June 10th, 2022 at 5pm.

This is not a financial need-based scholarship.  The quality and merit of your essay will weigh most heavily in the selection process.  Please take extra care and attention in formulating your submission.
